Priestland wary Bath move could scupper future with Wales Rugby Team

Welsh fly half Rhys Priestland has admitted that his future with the Wales Rugby Team could be at stake following the confirmation of his move from the Welsh region side Scarlets to the Aviva Premiership Rugby Football Union club Bath Rugby.

Warren Gatland, the head coach of the Wales team prefers to pick players for his squad who are based in the country and play for one of the four region sides. However, Priestland has said that he is happy with the proposed move in the summer in spite of the adverse effect it might have on his career at the international level.

The 28 year old admitted that he is delighted at the opportunity t move north of the border, but though there is a chance that it might affect his future with the Wales Rugby Team, he feels it will not come down to that. He has mentioned that he has no regrets about the move whatsoever and if it does affect his international career, he will have to learn to live with it.

The Welshman remains in fine form for his club and came off the bench to score a last minute winner against Zebre in his last match for the region side. Continue reading

Irish Captain Thinks That The Match Against The Welsh Team Will Be Very Tough For Them

The 35 years old Paul O’Connell, the captain of the Irish team, thinks that Wales Rugby Team will be a very tough team for them to beat. Whether or not the Irish team manages to defeat the Welsh team will determine whether or not the Irish team will be able to win the Grand Slam.

Ireland Rugby Team’s last Grand Slam win happened six years ago. This year the Irish team does have a chance of winning the Grand Slam. Earlier, they managed to defeat the England National Rugby Union team. For England, the defeat was a humiliating one as they were considered to be the favourite before the match. The Irish team managed to score 19 points in that match while the score of the English team stood at 9. Paul O’Connell has said that he holds the England National Rugby team in high regard and he is indeed very happy at the fact that they have been able to defeat that team. Continue reading

Wales Rugby Team player Samson Lee signs NDC with WRU and Scarlets

Scarlets and the Wales Rugby Team prop Samson Lee has become the latest of a long list of players to sign the new national dual contract (NDC) with his region as well as the welsh Rugby Union (WRU).

The 22 year old tight head prop, who won the first of his nine caps for Wales as a substitute against Argentina in 2013 was thought to have been holding out for a better contract, but in the end, put pen to paper to what was offered to him. He played in all of his country’s autumn internationals in 2014, including their historic reverse against South Africa.

Speaking at his unveiling at the Scarlets, Lee said that the decision came easily to him. He added that this new national dual contract is the best of both worlds, adding that it allowed him to commit his future to his region where he is enjoying his rugby immensely and where he also feels at home but it also allows him exciting times ahead with the Wales Rugby Team.
